4 year Olds and Up:
See Jerry Hilligoss training our young stock at Karma Farms on Facebook.
We have only one four year old for sale right now. Check out our lovely black 2007 filly Lucy in the Sky by Building A Mystery out of the HOA Foundation bred mare She Gathers Rain (Blue Crane/Dainty Bess). Email for more info and pictures of "Lucy" or check her out at our Karma Farms Facebook site. She is well started under saddle right now. "Lucy" will only go to a competition home where she can add to her sire's production record by becoming a champion in her own right. $2500. Would consider co-ownership of Lucy to a good, proven competition home. Why not the best? 3 Year Olds:
Violet Hill (by Born To Run out of Tiny Dancer) was born that strange chocolate brown color that her sire "Barney" sometimes puzzles us with, but this one is apping out very fast. Her tail is now mostly white and she seems to be becoming a varnish point, base black chestnut. Typical sweet Born To Run temperament and ready to ride this spring. "Violet" just about lives up to her name for a unique almost purplish color and a sweet, retiring disposition. She should be an easy one to train, no harm in this nice filly. $1100.

Lucy In The Sky
Toda de la Majia (by Relampago Placiado out of Hocus Pocus) is a flashy red roan appalosa filly with dark points, a lovely head, and a long mane and tail for an appy. Her sire was bred by Baca Chico Ranch in New Mexico and comes from a line of horses that Doroteo "Joty" Baca's family have preserved and promoted for decades. Her dam Hocus Pocus is by Rigoletto (Chief Masada/Miss Lightning), a blue corn stallion that is well known here for jousting for his owner David Frey as well as many wins in show and speed events at the AIHR National Show. Riggy's temperament was the best and this filly should be a nice one, too. "Majia's" grand-dam is Rag Doll, a 100% Gilbert Jones bred mare who carries David's mom Carlann in everything from shows to trail rides with care and love. $750.
Red-Headed Stranger (by Rowdy Yates out of Maggie Mae) is a sweetheart. Here's an own son of the great Rowdy with a super dam side. He shows a lot of his maternal sire, the blue corn appaloosa Dance Magic (Choctaw Sun Dance/Little Corn). "Stranger" will be a kind, "pocket pony" with loud strawberry roan color including a flaming red mane and tail. This fellow will stand about 13' 2" to 14 hands at maturity, big enough for almost anyone, but small enough to make a youth or petite lady a perfectly sized horse. This "Rowdy on Dance" combo has produced so many good ones, and we believe "Stranger" will be no exception. He is Maggie Mae's first foal. Lots of HOA foundation blood here plus the best of Karma Farms breeding. Maggie Mae's 2010 foal Mandolin Wind by Timber Ghost is going to Sid Hawkins in North Caroliona. Maggie Mae is open for 2011, so Stranger is our only chance at this breeding for now. $850.
Mona Lisa (by Born To Run out of Tiny Dancer) is a sister to several nice ones that we have sold for Dreams 'N Color Ranch including Tiny's Silver Princess and Bobby McGee. This one will be as gentle as those nice horses, a super prospect for a kid's or lady's horse. Gentle, loving and excellent conformation, she looks just like a female version of old Broom himself. A STEAL! $850.
Dance Inside the Sun (by Under the Sun out of Walk This Way) is a gaited red dun colt with lots of chrome. He is a doublebred Locomotion and doesn't seem to like to trot at all. If you are looking for that sweet Choctaw Sun Dance temperament with easy gaits and flashy looks, this guy will make you a good one. "Sid" is the first foal of Walk This Way, she by Locomotion and the last filly out of the HOA Foundation mare Fourwalker (Four Lane/Tamara Walker). Fourwalker was once owned by Spirit and Hidalgo author John Fusco. She is now deceased, but her blood, gait and type live on in Walk This Way. "Sid" is one fancy colt. $850.
Glamour Cat (by Cactus Jack out of Year of the Cat) is our first homebred Cactus Jack. "Jack" is Rowdy's full brother, not roan but solid grulla, a much more laid back fellow than our Mr. Yates. "Bella's" dam is a pure Book Cliff mare by El Tigre Segundo and out of Little Corn. Here is pure foundation Brislawn bloodline, HOA foundation, lots of Bookcliff and look at the startling red roan color. "Bella" should make a great one. $1200.
Simple Gifts (by Flaming Pie out of Blue Spanish Sky) is one or those perfect headed little fillies that steals your heart as soon as she bats those huge brown eyes at you. What color with LOTS of striping and barring plus pristine little snowflakes over her shapely hips and a few scattered over her body. Her sire Flaming Pie (Building A Mystery/Margerita, she by Broom out of Pie) and dam Blue Spanish Sky (X-Files/Year of the Cat, she by El Tigre Segundo out of Little Corn) were both purchased from us as weanlings by our friend Sarah Allgood, so "Gift" is 100% Karma Farms breeding. This little lady goes to Rowdy Yates through his winningest offspring, Building Mystery, out of the fabulous Grande Conqustadior mare Liona, still winning at age 19. She goes to Choctaw Sun Dance through his proven black appy son X-Files out of Pie. And just look at the rest of the CS Horse legends in this pedigree. If good to good breeds good, "Gift" is just double good. $850.
Washita Love Child (by Brother Love out of Washita River) is a 100% HOA foundation bred filly with that Tiger Eye look and Brother Love elegance. She is a unique smutty dun color now but may grey since her dam Washita River is a greying grulla, but it's really too soon to be sure. Either way, a good horse can't be the wrong color and this is certainly a very good one. Her dam Washita River is by Firebird Phoenix, one of the rarest of the HOA foundation lines. $1000.
Magical Mystery Tour--2010 loud, leggy and lovely grulla frame overo filly by Building A Mystery out of Miss Domingo's Shadow. "Tour's dam has produced Angelheart and Spirit Song, both National Champions. This one has what it takes, too. $3000.

Building A Mystery (Rowdy Yates/Liona) continued his winning ways as he captured the 2009 AIHR/HOA National Show Overall High Point Title, winning Champion "O" Performance, Adult Overall Champion, Solid Color Champion, and numerous first places in both judged and speed events. Can he do it again in 2010?

At the show's end, BAM had won Overall High Point with Timber Ghost winning reserve High Point. Below is Vik and Tori with AIHR President Nanci Falley receiving their awards.

Here Tori and BAM show the speed event style that is the grulla stallion's trademark.

The weekend after the 2009 National Show, Vik rode BAM in the Region 4 Benefit CTR, placing BAM first in Open Heavyweight to complete his 2nd NATRC National Championship in 2 years. He is competing in NATRC this season as well and already has well over 1000 miles in NATRC competition.

Building A Mystery is certainly earning his name as his legend grows. BAM will be standing at Karma Farms in 2011 for $500 stallion fee as will his sire, the great Rowdy Yates.
In the Karma Farms tradition of offering the best stallions of the breed, we'd like you to meet Under The Sun. Our thanks to Jeff Rogers who showed "Sun" to his first championship title, collecting 2009 National Broken Color Champion plus lots of placings at the AIHR/HOA National Show!

"Sun's" first foals for us arrived in 2009. Not only do they have quality and looks but his dark starred, stocking legged red dun colt Dance Inside the Sun out of Walk This Way (Locomotion/Fourwalker) has a natural and obvious lateral gait. "Sun's" 2009 filly Music of the Sun is sold already and will be shown at the 2010 National Show. Thanks, Faye and Charlie! She is a dun appy filly out of Hocus Pocus (Rigoletto/Rag Doll) with looks, presence, color, and a "baby doll" head. Give us a call if you'd like to own one of Sun's first foals to help us prove this exceptional young stallion. "Sun's" stallion fee is $400 for 2011.
Also watch for our grulla roan stallion Timber Ghost (Beetlejuice/Little Corn). Vik started him on his show and trail career in 2009, winning reserve Champion Overall for both AIHR and HOA at the National Show, plus placing in all three of his first NATRC rides. "Ghost" has a "doing" pedigree, wonderfully smooth gaits, great conformation plus an easy-going manner that makes people look twice when they realize that he's a stallion. He will be a marvelous compliment to our Rowdy Yates mares! His dam Little Corn (Four Lane/Little Thing) was one of the breed's greatest producers and a full sister to Caballos de Destino's Four Winds.
Ghost's first Karma Farms bred foals are here! Our 2010 Timber Ghost foals include 2 fillies, one out of Xena (Carolina in the Pines--SOLD) and one out of Maggie Mae (Mandolin Wind--SOLD) and a wildly colored near black grullo colt (El Condor Pasa--SOLD) out of Ilo's Bonita Shaquita. Thanks to our buyers who have supported the Ghost so handsomely his first year to have foals at Karma Farms. We do have a handsome grullo coming two year old Sorraia type Ghost colt named Jitterbug out of a Huasteca bred Jones mare for sale. Jitterbug is worthy of a stallion home. Interested? $850 for "Bug" so you can start your own Ghost story. "Ghost's" stallion fee is $400 for 2010.

COMING SOON--Illya Kuryakin (Magneto/Dancing Dove, she by Choctaw Sun Dance). Illya is a creme stallion with superior Spanish type. He is by NATRC National Champion Magneto (Broom/Espéranza). Wait until you see Illya in action!
If you need a smaller stallion, don't forget our two little Spanish Sport Ponies. Stallion fee for either is $350. Our homebred little guy is Scoundrel Days (Rowdy Yates/Lucinda), 6 year old under 13 hand Grand Canyon stallion with looks, action and Rowdy's brio in a small, sweet pony sized Colonial Spanish Horse. And have a look at CWH The Sea King, a wonderful flaxen maned sorrel stallion from Corolla Island in North Carolina. King" is 13' 1", and the kindest little horse. He is started under saddle and doing great. He and Tommi have been doing the Tejas Indian Horse Club events this season. King starts his trail career as a drag rider's mount when he and Tommi go to the Critter Creek CTR Sept. 4-5 to let him get a taste of NATRC.
In fact, we got four wonderful Corolla Horses, including three fillies for "King" . Watch as we train these little "sea horses" at The Corolla Horses of Karma Farms, and be sure to keep up with them at our Karma Farms Facebook site. CWH Whispering Jesse has made her halter debute at the 2009 AIHR?HOA National Show, winning fourth at halter in a huge (and tough) class of CS mares. Jesse and is now being trained to saddle by several of our volunteer Karma Kids including Ashley Frazier, Zoe Hill and Brooke Smith. Bet you'll be seeing much more of Jesse soon!

Karma Farms is located in deep East Texas between Marshall and Jefferson on US 59, only about 12 miles north of I-20. Glad to have you visit us to meet America's First Horse. No Colonial Spanish or Spanish Mustang breeding farm in the world can match Karma Farms' list of winners and champions.
The Colonial Spanish is still America's best horse for trail riding, distance riding, cattle work, and all around best compadre. This breed is called the Horse of the Americas, but also known as Colonial Spanish Horse, Spanish Mustang, Barb, Original Indian Horse, or even Cayuse.
By whatever name, these tough, smooth riding, intelligent and historic horses are still proving their worth for today's riders. Our farm is home to some of the best Colonial Spanish horses in the world. Don't make the mistake of confusing these rare horses with wild ferals
like most BLM adoptees. The Horses of the Americas are pedigreed horses. These horses come from stock brought to the Americas during the Colonial Spanish period. At Karma Farms, history is a living, breathing remnant of the America's Old West.
We breed the best to the best to share that history with today's riders. Here at Karma Farms, we lead ALL other breeders of these horses in championships, registry awards and number of winning horses--whether they are called Colonial Spanish Horses, Spanish Mustangs or Original Indian Horses. America's most decorated breeding farm invites you to visit and try
a CS Horse.
When you visit Karma Farms, you can meet some of the horses that helped to inspire John Fusco's 2002 animated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron. He honored us by naming Spirit's dam after our famous broodmare Espéranza.
Many of this great mare's offspring still live at Karma Farms including Rowdy Yates, Magneto, My Sunshine, and Xena and now Cactus Jack, Rowdy's look-alike full brother lives right down the road in Hallsville. "Jack" is owned Karma Farms foreman Curtis George and our good friends Eric and Laura Christensen.
You can find Espéranza grandsons and daughters on our Ready To Ride pages. John's other famous famous horse movie Hidalgo released in 2004 introduced more people to America's First Horse. Come and meet the real horses of the Old West at Karma Farms. These historic horses are indeed rare today. Probably less than 5,000 are left in the world. Colonial Spanish are among the most wonderful, tough and loyal of horses. Each is a unique work of the Great Spirit.
This is not a "look-alike, think-alike" breed. They are Picassos, not screen prints. Those who love the unique as well as the historic often find their equine soul mate at Karma Farms. The Horse of the Americas is also America's best family horse. These handy, versatile horses can do virtually anything--from barrel racing to dressage. At Karma Farms, our favorite equestrian sports are competitive trail riding and American Indian Horse shows, but we do special exhibitions, parades, and all sorts of fun events as we promote America's First Horse.

Our very first Colonial Spanish Horse was also registered as an Original American Indian Horse. He changed the course of our lives.
His name was Choctaw Sun Dance. This magic Medicine Hat made breed history. Meet "Dance" by clicking here, on his name or on his picture.
Tomlyn Grey would like to tell about her horses herself. Check out the pages she built for Fernando and her others years ago: "One Crazy Kid And The Horses That Put Up With Her...".
"Tommi" works hard helping with the farm. She and her boy Fernando can do it all! Meet the little black gelding, now 15 years old, that Tommi trained herself, a special little horse that has gone on to become the lifetime points leader for all Colonial Spanish Horses and Original Indian Horses. They're still out there winning today.
In fact, "Ferdie" just won the Youth Division at the AIHR/HOA National Show under Remington Hill and then went on to the Region 4 Benefit CTR the next weekend and won the Novice Jr. Division under Ashley Frazier. Have a look at "Ferdie" today!

If you would enjoy another sample of Tommi's writing, here's Tommi's "shout out" on those who unfairly condemn others.
