Laura Christensen is a great supporter of all we do at Karma Farms. She owns two fine KF horses, Wanna Flya red roan gelding by Locomotion out of Fewie and Baby Driver, a grulla son of Building A Mystery and Margerita. In one of our telephone conversations, Laura told me about a young trainer she thought we might want to try. My partner Curtis George and I loaded up six of our best including Texas Two Step, Child of the West Wind, Coon Creek's Flicka, Sudden Stars, Darlin' Sportin' Jenny and Curtis' sister Judy Snider's lovely grulla overo appy gelding Caddo Durango. Off we rolled to Atlanta, GA with our prized ponies in tow. Laura boarded them at her lovely barn. Here you see our ponies in training, thanks to Laura's picture diary.

Laura's trainer drives Stars and Tex.

He started out teaching them to be saddled and to work at liberty, saddled. in the round pen. While some were worked, others learned to stand tied and be patient.

Stars and Jenny wait their turn.

Laura's trainer rode them up and he rode them down.

The trainer balances Child of the West Wind on the step up and waves his hat. The trainer rides Jenny down the side of Laura's driveway.

He taught them to deal with things like dogs and gates, and he taught them to handle trail riding. He rode them in all weather.

The trainer pets his dog as Stars looks on. The trainer opens the gate with Sudden Stars. Notice the filly's headgear.

Flicka trucks along.

Most, like Coon Creek's Flicka, were riding quietly soon. But we left Caddo Durango for 60 days work. He's a Rowdy Yates grandson and a Broom grandson, so he's a bit "hotter" horse and is going to be the mount of a less experienced rider. In 30 days we were back at Laura's, ready to ride our youngsters.

The trainer pets Westie.

Here's Texas Two Step:

Vik on Texas Two Step. He's a true blanketed appy overo.

Texas Two Step is sweet, quiet--will make a kid's horse or lady's horse with a bit more experience under saddle. Has the stride and smoothness to go distance. Two crosses to Choctaw Sun Dance. $2500.

Here's Darlin' Sportin' Jenny:

Darlin' Sportin' Jenny. She's a great size for a timid rider! Vik on Darlin' Sportin' Jenny at Karma Farms. Pedigree, color and temperament.

Darlin' Sportin' Jenny is a daughter of Pucsinwah out of Haista Lin, the only paint daughter of Buffalo Gal.

She is a lovely little mare with an easy going "salmon" gait and a superior stride. She is about 13' 2" and can carry a full sized rider with ease, but would make a nice one for a smaller rider, too. Calm and uniquely marked. $2500.

We also have Ticket To Ride (AIHR and HOA pending)--Flaxen sorrel gelding will be 6 year in 2006. This pretty fellow was sired by Born To Run (Broom/Mora's Spring Dance, she by Choctaw Sun Dance out of Kiamichi Mora). "Ticket's" dam was our famous Daisy Ice, a tiny black mare who was sired by the small Book Cliffs stallion Snipper and out of Bob Brislawn's Grand Canyon mare. Ticket is Daisy's last foal. He is a larger Canyon sized gelding, about 13'2". Ticket is tough, very pretty, already started under saddle and ready to go. He's a full brother to AIHR's representative, Manoleto. This fellow has speed and drive, would make a superior CTR or endurance horse for a smaller rider. Ticket won several ribbons at hgis first Indian Horse show including first in the Green Pleasure. This is a nice one, folks. $2000.

Ticket is a fine example of the Grand Canyon Barb.

Horses Below Already Sold--THANKS!

Coon Creek's Flicka, a pure Wilbur Cruce bred by Tally Johnson. Mike Halupa trots Flicka into a creek crossing.

Both Flicka and Sudden Stars are already sold. Flicka is a pure Wilbur Cruce bred by Tally Johnson. We bought her from Cook Creek Farm. She is a larger CS horse, standing 14+ hands at coming four years old. She's a kind mare, easy to catch and big enough to hold a cow. Flicka. Mike Halupa on Flicka by the dairy pond at Karma Farms.

Flicka is a heavier type, especially for Wilbur Cruce. This one is a good ground-covering mare with lots of sense and desire to please. And such a good out-cross to so many bloodlines.

Sudden Stars is a wonderful appy girl with a great way-of-going, such a nice pedigree and attitude. Thanks, Kelly and Bob.

Child of the West Wind and Caddo Durango are not for sale. But we have several other nice ones we just brought home. More on them soon! If you have been waiting for your own Colonial Spanish legend, now is your chance.

One of these is the lovely Choctaw Sun Dance daughter Razorface. You have to see "Razor" to believe her. What a beauty! For more info on these or others, email karmafarms@marshalltx.com.
