Ever you had your own Colonial Spanish mount and a a whole farm to play on? Here at Karma Farms this June, we had lots of fun and made a bunch of young riders happy while they learned lots about horsemanship.

Our day camps lasted 3 days. We rode Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 7 pm to escape the worst of the east Texas heat. Each camper was assigned their own horse the first day and soon set off for a short trail ride. Soon they were ridng in camp shows, and treasure hunts and even learning to de-spook a horse in our infamous Gourd Dance. Here are a few of our campers from both sessions and their Karma Farms horses:

Sabine and Medicine Wolf (both sessions). Sabine won "Most Improved Rider" in the first session.

Hailey and Song for A Chief and Kelsey and Ever After

Morgan and Thunderheart

Morgan and Thunderheart (second session) and Liz and Private Dancer (second session)

Kenzie and Fernando (both sessions)

First we did a short briefing every day, explaining what we were going to to that day. We worked on notebooks, told stories and talked about safety and horsemanship.

Then we started work with our horses. Here Liz and Hailey do the Gourd Dance for Private Dancer.

We saddle up and trail ride or practice arena events--and on the last day of each session, we TREASURE HUNT!! The teenage "ramrods" Jennifer, Desi, Cooper and Will helped to be sure each child had fun and and searched safely.

Head for Page Two to see some cute treasure hunt pictures from both sessions.
